Enjoy a taste of North African cooking, learn about life in Morocco, and prepare a jar of preserved lemons to take home for your own kitchen.

Preserved lemons are a cornerstone of Moroccan cooking. Learn how they’re used in dishes from salads to tagines and make your own jar of preserved lemons to keep and age at home – along with some simple delicious Moroccan recipes.

We will experience the flavors and culture of Morocco, taste authentic Moroccan dishes seasoned with the spices of Marrakech, explore everyday culinary customs, and learn how prepare a traditional Moroccan carrot salad.

Don’t miss this fun and flavorful introduction to Moroccan cuisine. We can’t wait to share this taste of Marrakech with you!

About the branch

The Independence Branch began as a collection operated out of City Hall. After outgrowing that space, the library moved into its own facility and since 1992 the branch has been a part of the city’s municipal complex that includes a recreational facility and senior center.
