As a renowned kidney transplant surgeon and one of a small number of African Americans to hold such a title, Dr. Charles Modlin has overcome enormous odds, roadblocks, and trials. In his book, It Isn't Difficult to Do It if You Know How to Do It, he provides an extensive compilation of the successful strategies he used to overcome challenges and accomplish his goals in hopes of encouraging high school students and college students whose ambition is to succeed in life. From life in high school through applying and succeeding in college through the beginnings of one's professional years, It Isn't Difficult to Do It if You Know How to Do It not only outlines the proven tactics to embrace but also offers navigation around many of the pitfalls that entrap youth and prevent success in college and after graduation.
Dr. Charles Modlin joined the Urology department at MetroHealth in 2021. Previously, he worked at the Cleveland Clinic for over two decades. He has an MD from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.

The Beachwood Branch first opened to the public on October 31, 1982. At the time, it was the first branch in the CCPL system to have an automated circulation system. Located just a few hundred yards from the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, the branch offers a drive-up window where customers can pick up requested materials, dedicated spaces for kids and teens, and a beautiful outdoor reading garden.
