Strongsville Branch

Meeting Rooms A & B (130)

Join us as local author DJ Stein shares information on their book Eyes in the Florida Skies - a novel based on based on oral histories of Ohio Civil Air Patrol volunteers based in Panama City Florida.

The story of the Civil Air Patrol is almost completely unknown, but on December 10, 2014, WWII members of that organization received the Congressional Gold Medal for their volunteer efforts during those years. Especially noteworthy were the Coastal Patrol base personnel who flew the Eastern and Gulf coastlines keeping an eye out for U-Boats that were sinking U.S. tankers and other ships along U.S. shores. Retired Librarian and author DJ Stein discusses the research and inspiration behind the new novel Eyes in the Florida Skies, based on oral histories of Ohio volunteers who volunteered at a base in Panama City, Florida.

A book signing will follow this presentation.
