Discover the critical need for young people to see themselves reflected in art and culture.
Discover the critical need for young people to see themselves reflected in art and
culture, using a dynamic exhibit of new superheroes created by youth of color and designed by
artists from around the world. Discuss how participation in The Superhero Project’s program
creates positive impacts and how the exhibit challenges assumptions by viewers. Participants will
also have the chance to consider what changes they’d like to see in the world and to conceptualize
their own superheroes. In addition to exploring the exhibit, this engaging workshop will include a discussion of inclusion and the critical need for young people to see themselves reflected in art and culture.
This workshop will be facilitated by Superhero Project founder, Lisa Kollins. We encourage you to check the out the Power of The Superhero Project on Tues, June 23 / 6:30 as well. You can also receive a personal tour of the Superhero Project exhibit from Lisa Kollins at the Orange Branch Library during our designated viewing hours. No registration is necessary to attend exhibit viewing hours.
