Join local service dog trainer Victoria Brody from Mission Empawthy Dog Training for an informative program about service dogs and the vital roles they play in supporting people with disabilities.
This presentation will cover what service dogs are, how they differ from therapy and emotional support animals, and the laws that protect service dog teams. Attendees will learn how service dogs are trained using humane, positive-reinforcement methods and will see a live demonstration of common service dog tasks, such as retrieving items, responding to cues, and assisting with daily activities. The program will conclude with a Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions about training, public access, and how service dogs work in real-life situations. This program is geared towards adults and is ideal for anyone curious about service dogs, disability access, or modern dog training practices.

The Gates Mills Branch became a part of the Cuyahoga County Public Library system in 1948. At the time, the branch operated out of the Southwick House, a former residence that was converted into a historic site. The branch’s current home is a 3,500-square-foot building that is the cornerstone of the Gates Mills downtown revitalization.
