Join us for a presentation of entertainment and theater history of Cleveland during the vaudeville era (roughly 1885 –1930).

The centerpiece is Otto Moser’s pub on East 4th Street, where more than 650 photos of visiting vaudevillians lined the walls and filled the display cases. The presentation introduces scores of those individuals; explains the evolution and workings of vaudeville; provides a short history of the more than 60 live theaters that once thrived in downtown Cleveland; and shows video clips of vaudeville performances from 100-plus years ago.

Christopher Roy is a freelance writer focused primarily on Cleveland history. In recent decades, he has given lectures and written/edited more than 200 articles on local history for print, online and broadcast media. He holds a Master of Arts degree in History from Cleveland State University.

The author will be signing and selling copies of his book, Mr. Moser’s Neighborhood: The Intersection of Cleveland and Vaudeville.
